Tactile Textiles was a series of exchanges and workshops weaving knowledge across traditional and smart textile practices.
Charlotte Alexander shared her research into e-textiles with elderly rest home residents. In return resident Margarite Stephens demonstrates tatting a skill she learnt from her mother. The visit was designed to keep residents up to date with what is happening in the world and help them find ways for their own practices to find a place and remain relevant. Donna Cleveland and Kim Newall also conducted workshops in the use of Arduino in textiles with assistance from Jenna Gavin. These workshops complemented the Augmenting Elders workshops which was a longer term project particularly using Augmented Reality.
